In my experience with laptop hard cases I have found that you cannot have a general rule of buying these cases for every one. With a metal laptop case it’s finding the balance of protection from the outer shell to the inner lining.

The outer shell will hold up great for anything that might impact it from the outside, but the problem is the amount of protection that the inside may have from the case itself. People buy these overly protective laptop cases to protect there investment because they look at the outside and see…WOW nothing can damage my computer now. But, bot many people think about “Impact Resistance” When you drop your laptop in one of these cases the laptop will have a tendency to bang against one the inside wall causing some severe problems. You need to make sure that when buying one of these metal hard cases that you put extra effort in making sure that the inside is well insulated and form fitting. Making sure the laptop will not shift when the case is either dropped or hit is critical to prolonging the life of you laptop. A nice snug fit with a adamant amount of cushioning should be your buying rule.

To often people get hooked on the style of the hard case rather than how it will function as a protective case. This is the main problem I see with most non-branded hard cases. They do a really good job on making sure the case looks fantastic, but when it comes to security…they don’t offer up a lot of benefits. You can see these cases all over Ebay. Now don’t get me wrong, there are a lot of companies that find that balance of style and protection, but it’s up to your the consumer to make sure that you due diligence.
